MD-CARE

Overview

The goal of an electronic medical record is to capture all of the information that relates to a patient in a way that is easy, informative, and fun to use for clinicians. I’ll be designing an interface for nurses and physicians to collect, organize, and analyze patient information.

The Problem

Healthcare providers suffer from collecting patient’s data and can’t ensure all of the patient’s information is accurate and complete.
Healthcare providers also suffer from transforming data between providers in a timely manner and have many duplicate forms.

Research

Understanding what the target user’s needs are and the pain points facing them to document patient information.

As healthcare costs from the business side continue to increase, tackling wasteful administrative exhaustion and fatigue is a rational path to future savings.

Woolhandler and Himmelstein estimate that the United States currently spends $1.1 trillion on healthcare administration, and of that amount, $504 billion is excess. — Center for American Progress.

Sights:

As a result of research, I realized that the most popular registration method is that of paper, where most hospitals and clinics are still using.

When I asked clinics what the most important features appear or of concern in using software to record patient’s data are most of the answers were:

1- Patients always prioritize digital collections over paper collections.
2- Security of data is of importance.
3- Reduced cost is of importance.
4- User-Friendly app for patients.

These main points have become my priority in designing MD-CARE!

User Persona:

These were necessary to analyze the target audience since they would likely be the frontline practitioners using the program to record patients and transcribe medical notes from their appointments.

The Solution

Having designed the information architecture of the web and user navigation, I started designing the actual screens. This started with rough, low-fidelity design sketches on paper, leading ultimately to Figma's greyscale, digital mid-fidelity wireframes.

To recognize possible design issues, the mid-fidelity sketches underwent usability testing. These issues included a lack of distinction between information and behavior and a lack of information on some pages, while information on other pages was overwhelming. The testing stage contributes to the re-design of components and re-organizing pages and material on the website.

At the point of the idea, the main focus was on the Dashboard. I've put a lot of effort into the way to arrange the data and, to show it, the user's data preview. Analytical dashboards provide the user with at-a-glance information used for analysis and decision making.

Dashboard

Analytical dashboards provide the user with at-a-glance information used for analysis and decision making. They are less time-sensitive and not focused on immediate action. This kind of dashboard's primary goal is to help users make the best sense of the data, analyze trends, and drive decision-making.

Conclusion

 

There is an ability to learn from successful competitors and implement proven effective characteristics because there is a lot of existing developed competition. While many rivals are already big and trustworthy, by providing versatility and customization to their customers, MD-CARE will benefit from being agile.

The designs help showcase current and future MD-CARE features to potential clients and successfully maximize healthcare workflow efficiency. I’m grateful for the opportunity to have worked together and wish MD-CARE luck in their future endeavors.
